TECHNICAL GUIDE

Rock auger selection: flights, teeth and drilling diameter

A rock auger uses cutting teeth and helical flights to excavate and carry material from the bore. Its performance depends on whether the formation can be broken and retained on the flights; groundwater, loose layers and obstructions can change the appropriate tool choice.

How to specify the right configuration

Compare conical rock, flat rock and flat soil arrangements in the catalog tables. Drilling diameter and flight diameter are different measurements. Record pitch, flight length, tooth count and the Kelly connection together; a larger diameter also changes the load imposed on the rig.

Catalog specifications and listed options

Straight and conical rock augers for rotary foundation drilling with bullet teeth. Standard Kelly box: 200×200 mm. Confirm the diameter, flight geometry, pilot and rig interface for each order.

  • Conical Rock Auger
  • Rock Auger Pilot Bit / Pilot Head

Assembly review and inspection

Send the ground profile and rig operating limits with the required diameter. Compare a bucket where spoil collection is important, or a core barrel where an annular cut is needed. Check pilot condition, flight wear and tooth seating during the equipment's approved inspection routine.

How do straight and conical auger inquiries differ?

Specify straight or conical, the diameter, flight geometry, pilot and cutting layout. Both require project review; the listed standard Kelly box is 200×200 mm.

Preparing a quotation request in Saudi Arabia

  • Identify the rig model, product, quantity and application; include the ground profile when specifying a cutting tool.
  • Send a dimensioned drawing or clearly scaled photos. Identify mating components and distinguish measured dimensions from estimates.
  • State the delivery city, required date and project documentation requirements. Confirm the included components before ordering.
